As part of the 6^th Annual Get Active America! Program Gold’s Gym Riverdale Makes Exercise Accessible to the Riverdale Neighboring Communities

Gold’s Gym Riverdale Joins HHS, Office on Women’s Health in Promoting National Women's Health Week

Riverdale, NJ – May 1^st 2009 – AsAmericans’ waistlines expand, and healthcare costs associated with obesity and sedentary lifestyles increase, Gold’s Gym Riverdale is stepping up to help the nation get moving and get healthy. Together with other members of the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA) and the US Department of Health and Human Services’ Office on Women’s Health (OWH), Gold’s Gym Riverdale will make exercise available to the public the week of May 11-17, 2009 as part of the nationwide Get Active America! campaign.

Now in its sixth year, this program is part of a continuous effort by the health club industry to change the direction of the nation’s health by making exercise more accessible to millions of Americans, and help them to take the first step toward a healthier lifestyle.

“Tough economic times and looming healthcare costs are making it more important than ever for people to proactively care for their own health,” says Joe Moore, IHRSA’s President and Chief Executive Officer. “The easiest, most cost-effective way for people to care for their health and maintain their strength is to exercise. The Get Active America! program provides Americans with a gateway to healthier living.”

During Get Active America! week, current Gold’s Gym Riverdale members will be invited to bring a friend or family member in for free May on 11-14. The Open House on May 15-17, will also allow Riverdale and Neighboring residents to take exercise classes and use the facilities at Gold’s Gym Riverdale free of charge. Guests will be provided free access to the club’s trainers, state-of-the-art exercise equipment and an array of exercise classes. Visitors who would like to join Gold’s Gym Riverdale during Get Active America! week, will benefit from promotional group training classes by fitness professionals, complimentary personal training session, membership specials and much more….
